Congratulations to Year 13 student Hayley Bloch-Jorgensen who was placed 2nd in the Regional Race Unity Speech Competition. Hayley along with fellow Year 13 students Jaydizae Tuwhangai and Charissa Morris represented Kerikeri High School, delivering outstanding speeches at this annual speech competition.

Congratulations to Zachary Trautz (Year 12), a member of the successful Kerikeri High School MTB team, who has been selected by Cycling New Zealand to join their Schools' Focus Group, which aims to use students' ideas and suggestions to improve opportunities and engagement in school cycling, from BMX, to track, road, and MTB.

Our first in-school tournament held on our two new sand volleyball courts was a huge success. 90 students entered and because of a late start due to rain, the tournament was played as 6-aside mixed teams with rolling subs, giving everyone a chance to play. 

The Kerikeri High School Student Council is acknowledged for funding the installation of this popular new sporting area.

Our annual "give it a go" Swimfest for Year 7 and 8 students was held this morning. Students from the Sports Council organised and ran the event which included swimming races and other water activities.  Each Form Class worked together to choose a dress up theme, building team spirit and creating a colourful spectacle.

The annual Year 7 Peer Support Camps to Urupukapuka Island are a highlight for our Year 7 students, their teachers and the Year 13 students who go as Peer Support Leaders. The camps are part of the Peer Support Programme to help transition Year 7 students to Kerikeri High School. 

At the Celebration Assembly to introduce the Prefects to the School, our Deputy and Head Students were also announced.

The Kerikeri High School Athletics Day gave our students an opportunity to showcase their running, throwing, and jumping skills across a variety of events. Teachers from the Physical Education Department helped the day run smoothly and supported participating students.

Congratulations to Justin Peterson who broke the Year 11 Boys Shot Put record.

Congratulations to the students in the seven teams who competed in the recent Northland Debating Selection Tournament in Whangārei.

Congratulations to the 40 Year 13 students who were selected as the Kerikeri High School Prefects for 2025. A full list of the new Prefect Team will be published in the next School Newsletter. We would like to acknowledge all the Year 13 students who applied for this important leadership role; the calibre of applicants was again very high this year. 

Our new students across all Year Levels, and their whānau, were welcomed on Monday 3 February with Pōwhiri. This was a significant and special occasion for all involved, with over 1000 people present as either Tangata whenua - our full staff and all our Year 13 students, or as Manuhiri.

In the last week of January, 124 Year 13 students committed two days of their school holidays to attend our Year 13 Leadership Camp, led by Mr Craig Jordan, training to become Peer Support Leaders for our new Year 7 students.

Congratulations to our 2024 Head Girl Lucy Clent, who was awarded our most elite prize, Dux of Kerikeri High School, and to our 2024 Deputy Head Girl, Ciara Andrews, who was awarded the prestigious Proxime Accessit prize at the 2024 Senior Elite Prizegiving.

Congratulations to all other senior students who received awards or prizes and were acknowledged at the Prizegiving.
