For over 10 years, Bettina Simpson has been a dedicated Sport Coordinator at Kerikeri High School, managing a wide range of sporting opportunities for students. Among her many contributions, she has carved out a special place for volleyball, ensuring students have every chance to play, compete, and grow in the sport.

Kerikeri High School SAVE Group Beach Clean

Students from our SAVE Group spent a morning with Marine Biologist Kayla Keyes, and Anouk Van Donnelly (Community Business & Environment Centre), doing a beach clean on Paihia Beach and completing a national litter register. They then went on to the Oromahoe Kauri walk followed by a walk through the mangroves to see the diversity of the Paihia region.

MUNA

The Rotary Model United Nations event involved 300 Year 12 and 13 students from Northland and Auckland secondary schools, representing UN countries. Students embodied their nation's views and perspectives on current world issues.

Year 13 University Trip

34 Kerikeri High School students, accompanied by Mrs Clent, Year 13 Dean, and Mrs Crawford, Careers Advisor, travelled to Auckland and Hamilton for our annual University Trip. The students toured the AUT City Campus, the University of Auckland, and Massey University Albany campuses and accommodation.

Pink Shirt Day at Kerikeri High School

Kerikeri High School supports Aotearoa Mental Health Foundation's Pink Shirt Day every year. This means we take a stand for manaakitanga - respect and kindness towards all. We stand against bullying of any kind and encourage everyone to 'Speak up, stand together, stop bullying'.

Students are encouraged to speak to a safe adult if they are being bullied or witness bullying.

Honours Celebration Assembly

Our Honours Celebration Assembly took place on Tuesday 13 May.

Receiving Academic Honours is one of the highest academic achievements at Kerikeri High School. Each recipient of this award earned at least the equivalent of their required credits for NCEA Level 1 or 2 at Excellence.

Netball Development Tour

The Netball Development Tour was designed to enhance the skills of our netballers and further their development of netball knowledge at an international level. The students played five matches against five different schools and clubs from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Anzac Day Commemoration

Our Anzac Day commemoration took place during interval on Thursday 1 May. Hunter McInnes (Year 12) played the bagpipes. Head Boy Solomon Dickey and Deputy Head Boy Kosta Silich shared the speeches which they had presented at the Kerikeri Anzac Day Dawn Service. The Ode of Remembrance was read in Te Reo and English by Head Girl Te Kauri Armstong-Kingi and Deputy Head Girl Lilli-Rose Voakes.

North Island Secondary Schools Mountain Bike Championships

At the North Island Secondary Schools Mountain Biking Championships in Papamoa competition was fierce with up to 450 riders competing each day.  For some, this was their first competition outside Kerikeri and others their first ever downhill race. It was fantastic to see our young students develop skills, maturity and confidence from their new experiences.
