Dear Parents and Whānau
Further to my message to you late last week about the proposed nationwide PPTA industrial action this week, we have received formal notifications from the PPTA confirming that Partial Strikes will proceed through this week, until at least Thursday. I anticipate we will receive formal notification about the partial strike affecting Year 13 students on Friday in the next 24 hours.
On that basis, I can confirm partial strike action on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and I suggest it is most likely to continue into Friday this week. If anything changes between now and Friday I will advise you as soon as possible.
This means there will be no classes for Year 7 and 9 students tomorrow Tuesday 14 October. (Confirmed)
There will be no classes for Year 8 and 10 students on Wednesday 15 October. (Confirmed)
There will be no classes for Year 11 and 12 students on Thursday 16 October. (Confirmed)
There will be no classes for Year 13 students on Friday (To be confirmed by PPTA in the next 24 hours).
We are unable to supervise students affected by these partial strikes and so please do not send your child to school on those nominated days.
A full strike day is also proposed for Thursday 23 October; I suggest it is highly likely this industrial action will proceed; we do not expect to receive formal notification from the PPTA of this going ahead until Monday 20 October. I suggest families and whānau plan in anticipation of this being confirmed.
PPTA have also advised a full 2-hour strike on Wednesday 5 November, which will be in the afternoon, beginning at 1.15pm and concluding at 3.15pm. This means school will finish early on Wednesday November 5. School buses will continue to run at the normal times on that day. I suggest families and whānau also plan for this happening. When we know more, we will share updates with you.
