International - Why Us?

Kerikeri High School has high standards and a proven track record of academic achievement but what makes us unique is the Kerikeri environment, our Sailing Academy and our Theatre Arts Academy.

Kemp House

Kerikeri is a vibrant, bustling town of about 10,000 people located in the beautiful Bay of Islands in northern New Zealand approximately 45 minutes by plane or 3 hours by car north of Auckland. Originally home to Maori villages, Kerikeri was one of the first places settled by European missionaries in the early 1800s. Kemp House and The Stone Store are the oldest buildings of their kind in New Zealand.

The warm sub-tropical climate is ideal for fruit growing and there is a long established horticultural industry based on successful citrus and kiwifruit production. World-class sailing, fishing, and diving are available in the Bay of Islands. Kerikeri has a unique lifestyle with numerous cafes, boutique shops, artists, and galleries.

"We arrived in Kerikeri knowing virtually nothing about the town or Kerikeri High School. The International Department was super in getting our girls enrolled. They have taken everything from Photography and Drama to Maths and English. They have really enjoyed their after school fencing class. We can highly recommend Kerikeri to people considering an international schooling experience. The Northland area is beautiful and there is plenty to do. Beaches and views out to islands abound. Kerikeri has a brand new library and an arts center is currently being built. Northland is known for its subtropical climate and the fruit it produces."
