Kerikeri High School's enrolment scheme is prescribed by the Education
Act 1989 and provides for automatic entry to in-zone applicants i.e. those
living in the Kerikeri
High School
geographic zone ( map | description | Ministry )
If there are remaining places available in a year level
they are allocated as required by legislation in an annual ballot to out-of-zone
applicants according to a schedule of priorities (see below).
In-Zone Entry
Automatic in-zone entry is confirmed by completing the following procedure:- Complete an in-zone enrolment form. These are available on request from Reception.
- Meet with the appropriate year-level Dean. Appointments can be made by phoning or emailing Reception or the Deans Centre - contact information
Out-of-Zone Entry
- Complete an out-of-zone application form by the closing date. These are available on request from Reception. Applications will be processed by the school and places allocated based on the criteria and procedures below. All applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application.
- If successful in the out-of-zone allocation process, complete the enrolment procedure described above for in-zone students.
Out-of-Zone Place Allocation Procedures
The allocation of available places for out-of-zone applicants is determined by the following nationally legislated priorities:- First priority will be given to applicants approved for special programmes.
- Second priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
- Third priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
- Fourth priority will be given to applicants who are children of board employees.
- Fifth priority will be given to all remaining applicants. Where there are more applicants than available places, the places will be allocated by ballot.
